i spent most of sacrament meeting drawing bricks.
sometimes you are falling in love without realizing.
a brick for his favorite color.
another because his eyes are your favorite shade of blue.
one brick for your first date.
10 for all of the times he has shown up at your house since.
you add another brick to the stack every time he does something incredible
you kiss the brick labeled "good taste in music" as you add it to the pile.
a brick because he holds your hand in a wonderful way.
3 bricks for the way he is captivated by what you say.
a brick for each member of his family.
double bricks for his nieces and nephews.
7 bricks because he likes harry potter.
you go about constructing this person made up of all these little bricks but then one day you'll step back to admire your work and you'll realize that you had nothing to do with the masterpiece in front of you.
your eyes will behold the most beautiful thing of all; a flawed, quirky, interesting human being with dreams and plans and regrets. and the best part is that you didn't make them.
they came this way.
you aren't responsible for the way they like their eggs or their favorite childhood movie; they have always been that way.
they just decided to let you feel the rough stone and the smooth granite of their personality instead of only allowing you to view the shady silhouette they usually reveal.
and that's when you fall in love.
everything about this is lovely.
ReplyDeleteand thats when you fall in love.
ReplyDeletei also was drafting during sacrament meeting. creative writing has made church hard.
7 bricks because he likes Harry Potter. 50 points to whichever house this boy is in.
