i used to think words meant everything

her eyes were bigger than oceans

and contained worlds inside of them. 

her first world bled out after multiple stab wounds

the second put up more of a fight, 

but its light was snubbed out

just like the third, 

fourth, 

fifth, 

sixth.

the seventh was drowned in tears. 

and the eighth just erupted into monstrous flames, 

licking at the backs of her eyes

and scorching her brain. 

the fire can't be extinguished because all her tear ducts have run dry and

the fire can't be contained, so its traveling up and down her spinal cord

hopping onto nerves and synapses and diffusing into her cells. 

she is on fire. 

the only thing you said was, "sorry"
